Menthol Cigarettes may soon be a thing of the past?

Menthol cigs may disappear like the chocolate flavored smokes of days gone by.

A law passed in 2009 may spell the end of the Menthol cigarette to the dismay and anger of the tobacco manufacturing and marketing world.

The FDA is currently being sued over this possible ban on menthol flavored cigarettes.

Menthol sales account for approximately 1/4 of the overall cigarette sales in the US.

A 12-member federal advisory panel, which is in charge of overseeing the implementation of the 2009 Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act, is scheduled to makes recommendations on menthol cigarettes by March 23, 2011. The committee includes three non-voting members representing the tobacco industry.
