Works by Democratic leaning writers
Works by conservative leaning writers
Fiction
Extremest / radical views
And of course - the classic: WTF?!
Works covering the current political climate and mood of the nation:

Lets have some fun.

Lets start off with something along the lines of the 1461 -
One Review of Richard Wolfe's Revival called it a probing, detailed, fair-minded, sometimes unflattering, and highly informative. Presidential biographer, senior correspondent, and journalist Richard Wolfe's latest book captures President Barack Obama and staff after the successful run for the White House as detailed in Renegade: The Making of a President. During several months, beginning in January 2010, the author had a great deal of access: interviewing "every senior West Wing official from the president and vice president on down" in oral and written "real-time and rear view observations": literally a "rolling conversation" with them.
One review of Obama the Historic Journey says: The quality and quantity of the writing is the biggest difference between this book and its competitors. You might pick it up for the gorgeous photography, but hours later you'll still be reading it. A central narrative weaves throughout, and there are additional articles on Obama's father, mother, grandmother, wife Michelle, senior White House advisor Valerie Jarrett, Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. and other controversial figures, Georgia Representative John Lewis, Gen. Colin Powell, Tina Fey's parody of Sarah Palin, the New York Times coverage of the campaign, the Obama children, and the oath of office being administered twice.
This book is the photographic documentary of President Obama as told by Pete Souza. He has extensively documented Senator Barack Obama's rise to political stardom with exclusive photographs beginning with Obama's first day in the U.S. Senate. He has accompanied the Senator to seven countries including Kenya, South Africa, and Russia. Souza had unprecedented access to photograph private and political moments as senator and presidential candidate Obama went about his duties. His photographs of Obama have won national photojournalism awards for the past three years.
