the 12th GOP debate for the 2012 Nomination - Des Moines, Iowa

Newt Gingrich has made it to the front position in the Republican presidential hopeful field.

With the absence of Herman Cain, Newt became the obvious target for the other hopefuls in the 12th major GOP debate which was held Saturday in Iowa. The Iowa caucuses are to be held in just over three weeks.

The real race is going to be between only two hopefuls.
Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney.

Both polar opposites in the Republican party - pitting the party against itself in a way that may give a win to the Obama camp should either of them receive the party's nomination for the Presidential run in 2012.

Rick Santorum, Rick Perry and Michele Bachmann are so far off the front edge in this contest that they are fast becoming nothing more than an brief entertainment note in the real GOP run.

But is it Newt's turn and isn't that the real question that at least half of the GOP base is asking itself this morning?
