Fence Jumper Puts White House and Pennsylvania Ave in Lock-down

Just before 3 Pm today a man carrying two bags attempted to scale the north lawn fence at the White House. Uniformed US Park Police were able to place the man in custody before he was able to clear the fence.

The bags were taken away and screened by Metropolitan Police. The contents were deemed non-dangerous.

President Obama was in Michigan at the time of the attempted fence jumping.

The identity and motive of the White House fence jumper have not been released at this time.

The White House and Pennsylvania Avenue were on lock-down for over an hour after the incident.
