Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel and Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff General Martin E. Dempsey talk about the priorities for the Department of Defense (DoD) in Fiscal year 2015 and highlight major budget recommendations. They unveil plans to shrink the US Army to its smallest size since before the US entered World War Two. The video below is the full press briefing and lasts 1 hour.

The Army would be reduced by approximately 70,000
The Marines would be reduced by 8,000
Special Forces would grow by 5 percent

The A-10 would be retired in favor of the F-35 Joint Strike fighter
The U-2 will also be retired in favor of the unmanned Global Hawk program
The Littoral Combat Ships (LCS) order would be reduced to a maximum of 32 ships from the previous 52 ship order.

The proposal will move to the Congress next week for review.
