US Drone strike kills suspected militants in Northern Waziristan

A predawn strike by US drones reportedly killed several suspected militants in the Northern Waziristan region of Pakistan. Pakistani officials called the strike illegal and have condemned the strike as a violation of Pakistan's sovereignty.

The Northern Waziristan region has been suspected and reported as an operations base for al Qaida as well as other militant groups. 

American and Afghan officials have demanded Pakistan take military action against the insurgents in the North Waziristan region. Pakistani military leaders have responded that their forces are stretched too thin fighting domestic based Taliban extremists in tribal areas elsewhere in Pakistan.

Today's strike is said to be the 14th strike so far this year.

Reports have different accounts of the dead ranging from 4 to 17 suspected militants.
