French officials say that freshly sworn in Socialist President François Hollande's plane was hit by lightning while en-route to Berlin. The Falcon 7X aircraft was struck by lightning shortly after take-off today, and returned to the Villacoublay air base for inspection.

Officials say no one was hurt and that the plane returned to Paris as a precautionary measure.

The newly appointed president and his entourage were quickly transferred to a Falcon 900, which took off shortly thereafter.
