New York Governor Cuomo proposing the "Toughest Assault Weapon Ban in the Nation" 

NY Gov. Cuomo used his annual State of teh State address to roll out his plan to put in place new gun laws in New York.

In his speech he stated that he will "enact the toughest assault weapon ban in the nation, period."
Governor Cuomo went on to say "I know that the issue of gun control is hard. I know it's political. I know it's controversial  I say to you - forget the extremists  It's simple, no one hunts with an assault rifle. No one needs 10 bullets to kill a deer and too many innocent people have dies already"
The anti-assault weapon movement is gaining support and speed.

During his speech Gov. Cuomo called for federal background checks of all gun sales, including private ones, a ban on high-capacity clips and magazines, enacting tougher penalties for illegal gun use, penalties for guns being carried on school grounds, penalties for gun activity by gangs, laws keeping guns from people who are mentally ill, banning the sale of ammunition over the internet, a single state check on all firearms purchases, and programs to cut gun violence in high-crime neighborhoods.
