Vice President Biden - The President is going to act - Executive Orders on Gun Control are an Option
According to Vice President Biden earlier today during a press conference held just prior to his meetings with victims of gun violence and gun safety groups on gun control, "The President is going to act. Executive orders, executive action, can be taken,".
The meetings are an effort to fulfill President Obama's request for proposals to be submitted to him by the end of January.
"I'm convinced we can affect the well-being of millions of Americans, and take thousands of people out of harm's way, if we act responsibly," he said.
Colin Goddard of the Brady Campaign was one of the presenters at today's meetings with the gun violence task force. Mr Goddard was shot a total of four times during the 2007 Virginia Tech shootings. As you recall a lone gunman killed 32 people before finally turning a gun on himself.
Tomorrows meetings will have presentations from the NRA and other gun advocate groups.
Can President Obama change or modify the existing American gun laws by issuing an Executive Order?
Yes
There is nothing stopping him from being able to issue an Executive Order banning certain types of weapons, clips, ammo or changing requirements for selling weapons to the citizens of the United States.
